Professional truck drivers are the backbone of the American economy. Visit any grocery store, business, or medical facility in the Mid-South, and that becomes immediately obvious. Whether you are buying clothing at a retail store or a filling up your tank at a gas station, nearly every part of our lives is impacted, and made possible, by the work of a professional truck driver.  

During Brake Safety Week, commercial motor vehicle inspectors focus on the importance of brake systems by conducting inspections and removing commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations from our roadways.

This month we’re honored to spotlight one of our drivers who has driven over 2,000,000 miles for Cooper Freight over the past fifteen years, Barry Deese.

Why do you like working at Cooper Freight?
The atmosphere, people are easy to work with, equipment is new and always serviced, and there is an emphasis put on family. Things get done, the work moves, pay is great, and being on time is easy with the lead time we’re given.

Why do you like working at Cooper Freight?
It is family oriented and they know your name. All of the employees are friendly and accessible. The equipment is kept in fantastic condition. You get plenty of miles with excellent pay. Decent home time. We have lots of one, two and even three million mile drivers for a reason. Best job I’ve ever had. I’m here to stay!

Truck drivers are the reason that our moveable properties, raw materials and finished goods get delivered from one location to the other. Without truck drivers, it would not be possible to move our stuff around.

We at Cooper Freight especially prioritize making truck drivers feel appreciated beyond the fact that we are freight shipping and trucking company. We consider the hard work that these heroes put into planning routes and meeting schedules for delivery.

Everybody loves the summer season. It is an opportunity for us to feel warmer, and experience longer nights. Summer makes it possible to go on the vacations we have dreamt about and to enjoy all the fun there is.

Ideally, the summer season gives us the perfect weather. Our eyes are sharper to see clearly and it offers everyone, including truck drivers the privilege to drive on dry roads. However, all of these benefits come with certain negative effects if not well enjoyed.
